Have just been to Scotland done Applecross, Remote parts Skye, Islay, and Arran this year. See freemotorhominguk.boards.net/thread/1989/10-25-scotland-convoy-option for details, maps, places, and photos. My favourite places this year were Applecross, Sheildaig, Islay, and the Isle of Arran. Arran is not highlands, but it has everything that Scotland has to offer in a smallish Island. Mountains, glens, beaches, forests. The previous year I went up to Applecross, then Ullapool, Lochinver, Durness, Kyle of Tongue and Thurso. freemotorhominguk.boards.net/thread/1167/wild-camping-scotland-update-referenceGood places on that tour are Applecross (again!), Ullapool is nice, Lochinver, Kyle of Tongue, Sandwood Bay, Dunnet Head (near Thurso) Places to avoid by choice: Loch Lomond area (can be crowded), Central Skye (Just like England), John O'Groats (nothing there - go to Dunnet Head instead) There's another tour of the NW going on this year: freemotorhominguk.boards.net/thread/1990/31-june-scotland-convoy-option?page=2It should develop in the next two weeks and photos/places should appear. Also go to bonnietours.com/ Kevin at passing places has lots of recommendations - we met him last year at Kyle of Tongue

Forgot to mention Wester Ross and Glen/Loch Torridon - stunning scenery 3600 foot peaks - though Sheildaig is part of that area.
